This is Our Story

I (Alexi) grew up in Southern California and Christian grew up outside of Philadelphia. I moved across the US; New Mexico, Texas getting my undergraduate and master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, while Christian moved to Ireland to work in hospitality. Eventually we both found ourselves in Colorado where we met. We bonded over our love for nature and connecting to her vast mysteries. We traveled to go fly fishing, camping, hiking; anything outdoors we were there.

Christian and I both, unknowingly, started our Saturn return together in 2023. Christian left hospitality to become a fly fishing guide in Estes Park, Colorado, and I became an intern manager at the private practice I was working at. We came to a point at the end of 2023 where we were both feeling uninspired and burnt out. We decided to take the leap and move to Washington.

So he wrapped up his job at the fly shop; I finished up my credentialing in Gestalt Equine Psychotherapy, packed up our tiny 1 bedroom apartment, our two dogs and headed to the PNW in May of 2024. The first year of living in Washington was a time of transition settling, and orienting to our new space.

Meanwhile, I had deepened my spiritual practice since arriving in Washington. I was expanding my relationship with tarot, attended a weekend meditation retreat that opened up a clairvoyant relationship with my ancestors and spirit guides, and began reiki training. I was finding such a direction and path that I was connecting to that i didn’t think was possible.

In may of 2025, I began wrapping up my dissertation journey, hoping to complete my PHD in counselor education and supervision, when I received news of my aunt’s passing. My aunt taught me priceless life lessons. She was a model of strength, wisdom, compassion, and fierce, fierce love.

From a young age she always loved to travel. She took me to Italy when I turned 18 and instilled adventure and exploration into my spirit. She never let life slow her down, even when she was diagnosed with ALS and FTD. I hold her legacy by always chasing my dreams, fiercely living my truth and standing in power and courage. She visits me as the Queen of Wands

From a young age, I knew I wanted to live on land with horses. I knew that my body was not meant to work in an office, surrounded by florescent lights, crowded space, and a mundane commute. This was so much the reason why I wanted to specialize in equine assisted therapy. With my aunt’s passing she left myself a decent amount of money. Christian and I were privileged to start searching for at least a starter home. We wanted something comfortable, enough land to let the dogs run around.

What we were not expecting was finding 2+ acres 15 minutes from down town Poulsbo, the Land in which Moon River has been born. We closed on December 12th, moved in on December 24th, and on December 29th our pup Apollo got sick and we said goodbye on December 30th. Apollo had Evans syndrome and was in remission for the past three years. He was only 9 when he passed. Losing him was one of the most difficult things both Christian and I went through as a couple. Grief is so hard and so intense. Apollo came into my life back in 2016 when he was only 7 weeks old. He saw my first apartment and got to get a taste of our forever home. I know his spirit is with us on the land.

We are currently still settling into our space. We are renovating the Yurt this spring, with hopes to have it it up and going this summer so I can move from the temporary tent into a more grounded foundation of a Yurt. I will be practicing reiki, astrology readings, Ancestral and ritual practices offerings for the community as well as Clinical therapy from the Yurt. The hope is to continue to host workshops out of the Yurt.

There is a pretty large shop that needs renovation that we are planning to convert in the next 5 years or so into a community space. The dream is to allow other guides, Yogis, healers to use this space in whatever capacity they would like.

I want to create an ancestor labyrinth this summer. A space for people to come, walk amongst, pray and connect with the ancestors. Your own personal ancestors, the ancestors of the land, or the ancestors that wanting to offer such connection. This is a labyrinth that holds wisdom, grief, hope, and spirit.

There is so much land to host retreats and future workshops all still in the manifestation phase of Moon River. We want to have a small group of horses on the land to aid in the healing process. Truly the potential feels endless.
